Bruised Heel

A bruised heel is common in sports where athletes are exposed to continuous heel impact and in particular to soldiers marching. Repeated impact on the heel causes its protective layer of fat to shift to one side. The bone is then less protected, causing pain.

The best way to treat a bruised heel is to rest until the pain is gone. Adding padding to the heels of shoes or taping of the heel can also bring relief. If caught early, the pain recovery time should only be a few days.
