About Us

Below is a brief history of the firm and a description of what you can expect when you contact us. Remember: at Morgan & Morgan, your initial consultation is always free.

History

In 1988, Morgan & Morgan was founded by John Morgan in Orlando, FL. The small office was made up of three attorneys, two paralegals, and a receptionist. Our well-known motto, "For the People," originated in those early days. It was more than just a motto; it was a business philosophy and a way of life. It was John Morgan's dream to establish Morgan & Morgan as the best plaintiff's trial firm in the state of Florida. To achieve this, he built up his practice by hiring the best trial attorneys in each legal community and giving them all of the resources necessary to fight the insurance companies and fully serve the needs of their clients. Morgan & Morgan quickly became known as a collection of experienced trial attorneys who will accept nothing less than full compensation for their clients' injuries.

By 1992, the firm expanded to eight lawyers, ten paralegals, and a sizable support staff. Morgan & Morgan then began to focus on medical malpractice and to experience success trying cases before juries.

By 1995, the firm had grown to 25 lawyers, and a second office in Tampa was opened. By 1999, the firm was composed of 40 attorneys and 40 paralegals and had begun to specialize in nationwide mass tort litigation. In the past decade, Morgan & Morgan has opened offices in Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Ft. Lauderdale, Daytona Beach, St. Petersburg, Atlanta, GA, Jackson, MS, Memphis, TN, and New York City. The firm has grown to over 180 attorneys with a support staff of 1,000 people. In the last year, Morgan & Morgan attorneys tried more plaintiff's personal injury cases than any other firm in the Southeastern United States. We are proud to say that we have obtained multi-million dollar verdicts in courts throughout the country and made a dramatic difference in the lives of countless families who have hired us to represent them.

To this day, John Morgan's original vision is still going strong: FOR THE PEOPLE.

How We Handle Our Cases

The first line of communication between you and the firm will be one of our six full-time receptionists who refer clients to the Case Control Department. There, one of over 30 full-time staff members will ask you some initial questions regarding your potential claim. The interview will generally last from 15 to 30 minutes.

The next step is to make an appointment for a sign-up interview. We are willing to work around your schedule, so if it is inconvenient for you to meet us in one of our office locations, we will travel to your home, work, or the medical facility where you or your loved one have been hospitalized. Since we employ over 25 full-time field service investigators, someone should be able to meet with you within a day or two. In situations where time is of the essence, we are often able to send an investigator out within 24 hours.

After you have completed the preliminary interview process, you will be directed to the appropriate department. For example, if you have been involved in a car accident, you will be referred to an attorney who deals in car accident disputes. Once your claim reaches the proper department, its validity will be evaluated by one of five department heads. The department head then decides which attorney within that unit is the best fit for your case. Typically, a client will be assigned an attorney, legal assistant, and a paralegal (for all workers' compensation, first party, and negligence cases) within a week of initial contact.

From that point, individual departments have unique systems of processing cases, and a lawyer and paralegal will provide you with any advice you may need. From your introduction to our staff to the resolution of your case, Morgan & Morgan stresses personal interaction.
